Celebrated around the world annually, Mardi Gras is a Carnival celebration also referred to as Fat Tuesday, reflecting the practice of eating richer fatty foods before the season of Lent. Sociably Yours is here with some easy ways to create your own Mardi Gras celebration.
We featured Bourbon Street Chicken, Mardi Gras Pasta Salad, King Cake Cupcakes and of course a signature Carnival Cocktail!
Mardi Gras Pasta Salad
Ingredients
1 pound of fusilli pasta
½ cup of shredded purple cabbage
1 cup whole kernel corn
2 tablespoons butter
½ cup finely chopped green onions
1 cup of mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Cook the pasta in boiling water according to package directions. Drain thoroughly and place in a large mixing bowl.
In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté the corn for two or three minutes. Add the corn, cabbage and green onions to the pasta. Add the mayonnaise, a little at a time and toss to coat evenly. Add the mustard, salt and pepper. Toss gently.
Carnival Cocktail (Mocktail)
Ingredients
Lemon Lime Soda
Grape Soda
Pineapple Juice
Directions
Combine the grape soda, lemon lime soda, and pineapple juice in large pitcher. Serve over ice.
